NTSB Factual Report

On May 27, 2006, at 1845 eastern daylight time, a Beech B36TC, N414AS registered to Lord and Lord LLC, and operated by a private owner as a 14 CFR Part 91 personal flight, ran off the end of the runway during landing roll at Transylvania County Airport, Brevard, North Carolina. The airplane received substantial damage. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and an instrument flight plan was filed. The private pilot and passenger reported minor injuries. The flight originated from a private strip in Middle, Tennessee, on May 27, 2006 at 1615.

The pilot stated that when the destination airport was insight she cancelled her instrument flight plan. The pilot rated passenger called the airport Unicom and reported turning from base to final approach for runway 27. The pilot stated that she landed the airplane half way down runway 27, and applied the brakes. The airplane began to skid, went off the departure end, and collided with a ditch. The pilot stated that there were no mechanical problems with the airplane prior to the accident.

The pilot's failure to attain the proper touchdown point during landing.
