On October 9, 2005, at 1404 eastern daylight time, a Beech model 19A, N5083T, piloted by a student pilot, sustained substantial damage during landing on runway 32 (3,501 feet by 100 feet, asphalt), at the Jackson County Airport-Reynolds Field, Jackson, Michigan. The 14 CFR Part 91 personal flight was operating in visual meteorological conditions without a flight plan. The pilot was not injured. The flight originated from the Owosso Community Airport, Owosso, Michigan, at an unconfirmed time.
According to statements from two air traffic controllers, the airplane porpoised on runway 32 during landing. The controllers reported that the airplane then went off of the runway, striking a runway sign, and came to rest in the grass between runway 32 and taxiway D.
