NTSB Factual Report

On July 10, 2001, at 1430 central daylight time, a Cessna 210, N9657T, piloted by a private pilot, was substantially damaged during a hard landing at the Saint Charles Municipal Airport (3SQ), Saint Charles, Missouri. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. The flight was operating under 14 CFR Part 91. The pilot reported no injuries. The flight departed from the W. K. Kellogg Airport, Battle Creek, Michigan, at 1330, en route to 3SQ.

The pilot reported in a written statement, "...Departed KBTL on IFR flight plan. Arrived 3SQ had hard landing with nose gear hitting hard. Broke strut then broke hydraulic line. Nose gear collapsed..."

the inadequate flare by the pilot.
