On August 3, 2018, about 1545 mountain daylight time, a Airbus EC 130 T2 helicopter, N130TG, lost control while maneuvering near the Dismal River Golf Club, southwest of Mullen, Nebraska. The private pilot was not injured and the passenger sustained serious injuries. The helicopter sustained substantial damage. The personal flight was conducted under the provisions of 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and no Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) flight plan had been filed for the flight.
According the FAA inspector who responded to the accident, the helicopter was maneuvering over the golf course. The helicopter banked to the left and the pilot lost tail rotor authority. The helicopter rotated clockwise 3 to 4 times before impacting terrain. The main rotor and fuselage were substantially damaged during the impact.
